Overview:

A training-cum-incubation of 400 women in Software Engineering learning tracks, Codenamed ADA, over a seven (7)-month period, after which 80% of talents output will be groomed into ventures and innovations and will merge into startups, while 20% will be exported as tech talents to companies or firms that are on the ground already to sign them on. We’d offer project-based training and certification in:
  • Web development ( Frontend & Backend Engineering
  • Data (Data Science & Analytics)
  • Product Design(UI/UX)
  • Product Management
  • Cloud Engineering
  • Mobile App Development The learning plan will be very project-heavy; this will include weekly tasks/projects to be completed by students and aid their promotion during the training. Custom quality pre-recorded learning content (video, texts, slides) made by the program facilitators(tutors) is uploaded weekly to the program LMS(Learning Management System). Hands-on virtual and physical workshops twice a week, hackathons and collaborative projects, softskills lab and financial literacy training all geared towards graduating well rounded skilled tech talents off the program.

A 2020 study by the AnitaB.org Institute found that women make up 28.8% of the tech workforce, this has seen a steady increase over the years but more work needs to be done and certain issues addressed

Economic empowerment

Nigeria's unemployment rate in 2021 is 35%, according to a report by a credit rating agency, Agusto & Co There is an urgent need to empower more women economically to create more privately owned tech enterprises and also equip them with in-demand skills to access jobs globally

Facilitation of community-driven initiatives

The community has been a key component of tech growth and adoption in Nigeria. The ADA program is needed in the southeast to incorporate the proven processes of community-driven initiatives to foster the collective growth of the women in these tech communities and encourage innovative solutions in a safe space.

Learning Flow:

  • A Learning Management system (LMS) will be provided for all students.
  • You have a community of leaders by your side. You get access to peer learning days, technical mentors, and community forums.
  • Upon graduating, excellent and good students will be placed on internships. A career accelerator that gets you ready for real-life projects.
 

Objectives & Impact:

ADA is born out of our passion to equip women in south-eastern Nigeria with the necessary digital skills to create innovative solutions.
The goal is to equip these women with the skills to build creative projects that will impact our society positively, grow the startup culture, provide jobs, and bridge the gender gap in the tech ecosystem.
 

Selection Process:

Our target demography is women living in the south with basic computer literacy skills for the explorer track; and Women with at least one year of experience in any tech-related field for the innovator track. Applicants will be able to access the training through the product landing page that includes project info and the application form, the following data will be collected:
  • Bio data: Name, age, location
  • Educational background
  • Contact Info
  • Resume
  • Proof of basic computer literacy
  • Time commitment
Successful Applicants are those that fulfill the criteria above, can commit at least 20 hours weekly to the program, have access to a working laptop, electricity, and a stable internet connection.
